Chicken Vegetable Samosas

Ingredients for chicken vegetable samosas:


For the Filling:

  • 1 cup cooked and shredded chicken
  • 1 cup mixed vegetables (peas, carrots, potatoes), finely chopped
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons cooking oil
  • Fresh coriander leaves, chopped (optional)

For the Dough:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup oil
  • 1/2 cup water (or as needed)
  • Salt to taste

For Frying:

Vegetable oil

:Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Dough

  1. In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, salt, and oil.
  2. Gradually add water and knead to form a smooth and firm dough.
  3. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for at least 30 minutes.

Step 2: Prepare the Filling

  1. In a pan, heat oil over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
  2. Add chopped onions, garlic, and ginger. Sauté until the onions are translucent.
  3. Add the mixed vegetables and cook until they are slightly tender.
  4. Stir in the shredded chicken and spices (coriander, turmeric, garam masala, salt, and pepper). Cook until the chicken is fully cooked.
  5. Optionally, add fresh coriander leaves for added flavor. Mix well and set aside to cool.

Step 3: Assemble the Samosas

  1. Divide the rested dough into small lemon-sized balls.
  2. Roll each ball into a thin oval or round shape.
  3. Cut the rolled dough in half to form two semi-circles.
  4. Take one semi-circle, brush the straight edge with water, and form a cone by folding it in half.
  5. Fill the cone with the prepared chicken vegetable mixture.
  6. Seal the open edge to form a triangular samosa. Repeat for the remaining dough.

Step 4: Fry the Samosas

  1. Heat enough oil in a deep pan for deep frying.
  2. Once the oil is hot, carefully slide in the prepared samosas.
  3. Fry until they turn golden brown and crispy.
  4. Remove the samosas with a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel to drain excess oil.

Serve the chicken vegetable samosas hot with your favorite chutney or sauce. Enjoy your delicious homemade samosas!
